The most convenient airports to reach Göttingen are Frankfurt am Main and Hannover Airport. Although Frankfurt a. M. is a little further from Göttingen than Hannover, airfares are often cheaper via this route. There are train connections from both airports to Göttingen. First take a train to the respective central station (Hauptbahnhof/Hbf) and from there a connection to Göttingen. There are also direct trains connecting Frankfurt Airport Fernbahnhof with Göttingen. For train times and fares check the website of the German Railway (Deutsche Bahn).
By Public Transport
Upon arrival at Göttingen Station, take a taxi (15 min, approx. 15 euros) to the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. Alternatively, one can use the public transport and walk to the bus stop Groner Tor of bus number 5 (direction Nikolausberg) and get off at bus stop Faßberg (approximately 22 min, 5-10 min walking). Or one can reach bus line number 5 from the train station by taking buses number 10, 6, 8 (direction Weende/Ost), or 13 (direction Geismar/Süd) till Groner Tor stop (one stop). From bus stop Faßberg it is a few minute walk to the first huge administration building on the left side of the street. The entrance is marked with the conference banner. Bus schedules are also available online.
